the first one.

Hello hi, this entry is being written after quite a few of the juicy ones have been written, but sadly, you’ll be reading this one first. I’m going to introduce myself using my favourite artist Little Simz’s words from Woman. I am a Naija woman, got the melanin dripping. Currently from L-O-N-D-O-N, city girl living (not technically). I am usually in the back looking like fire chilli pepper, and obviously that’s because I am a Yoruba girl, tougher than Imperial leather.

Every post will be narrated by yours truly, to add a little bit of inclusive spice to this blog. People tell me I have a nice speaking voice, so why would I not take advantage of that? I’ve also never seen this done before and know some people (not EYE) like listening to audiobooks as they read along.

Nice to (unofficially) meet you all, I hope you’re as unprepared as I am for what this blog will be. But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Layo (pronounced lie-oh, like you lie down with an oh at the end, NOT to be mispronounced as Layo that rhymes with mayo). I’m trying to get people to start calling me Temilayo, though. To those that have never met me before… please don’t give me a nickname until I tell you to, ESPECIALLY if we’ve never made eye contact before. PLEASE. I take nicknames very seriously and I love my given name because it translates to ‘mine is joy’. Let me continue having joy by calling me Temilayo, thank you very plenty. At my ripe age of twenty one (as of posting this, I’m now twenty two), I’ve been in a total of one relationship (I was 19 at the time, and I don’t even really want to acknowledge it because we were only official for two months of our six month involvement), am a profound lover of God (the capital G, proper noun God) and fashion enthusiast.

I like to think the most basic thing about me (as a fashion girl) is my goal to move to NYC before I turn 25. I’m currently writing this post in the holiday season of 2022, in our house just outside of London, England. I don’t really know what to get into in this post; I’ve always been bad at explicit introductory messages. I can say that this blog will be me detailing all of the funny parts of my life (to a degree, I’m not friends with oversharing), the less funny parts of my life (that is if I can bring myself to be vulnerable on Beyonce’s internet), my favourites (clothes, food, places, experiences, etc), and everything in between.

So.. if that’s something that interests you, please stick along for the absolute calamity that tends to be my life and henjoy!

That’s all.

P.S. I’m sure that in my arsenal of previously written blog entries, I’ve found one or two that I can post ASAP after this. So please have fun with the mess (everything I’ve written thus far, at the point of finishing THIS post, has been about boys, but I promise you all that isn’t me! There will be lots of other topics being discussed).
